Kick-off meeting for the second cohort of the RTG 2753 "Emotional Learning and Memory"

On the 18th of September 2025, we officially welcomed the second cohort of PhD students and postdocs of the RTG 2753 "Emotional Learning and Memory" in the framework of the Kick-off meeting that took place at the Dialoghaus Hamburg. The Kick-off meeting was a chance for the group to get to know each other as well as the RTG.

The afternoon began with a warm welcome and interactive icebreaker activities, creating an open and lively atmosphere. Following this, the PhD students and associate members of the second cohort introduced themselves, sharing insights into their research and personal background. Both the icebreaker activities and introductions highlighted the diversity of the group.

As a special highlight of the event, Kim Sobania and Josefine Hebisch,  who have served as student representatives for the past three years, gave a short presentation reflecting on their time in the RTG, and the responsibilities and opportunities connected to student representation. We thank Kim and Josefine once again for their valuable contribution to the RTG!

After a short break, Lars Schwabe presented the qualification programme of the RTG for the upcoming semesters. He outlined the core elements of the curriculum, upcoming workshops and training opportunities, and emphasised continued support structures in supervision, mentoring and career development. This was followed by a presentation of the clinical backbone of the RTG and a Q&A session.

Another important agenda point was the election of the student representative and deputy. After a brief discussion, the PhD students and postdocs cast their votes to determine who will represent the interests of the second cohort as members of the steering committee of the RTG. We are pleased that Ceren Eksi and Paul Pfaff were elected as new student representatives!

The official programme concluded with an informal exchange, giving all participants an opportunity to continue discussions and deepen connections within the group. The second Kick-off meeting thus not only marked the transition between the cohorts, but also set the course for the next chapter of the RTG 2753 “Emotional Learning and Memory"!
