Special event on "Diversity in Science - (Female) Empowerment"

On the 11th of June 2025, the RTG hosted a special event on "Diversity in Science – (Female) Empowerment", led by Dr. Juliane Handschuh, a neurobiologist and expert in soft skills training. Dr. Handschuh's interactive talk focused on promoting diversity in science, particularly regarding gender and other underrepresented groups.

Dr. Handschuh highlighted the importance of diversity for scientific progress, presenting evidence on how diverse teams drive innovation and excellence. Dr. Handschuh also discussed the evolution of diversity standards in academia in Germany, focusing on the impact of policies like the DFG’s equality standards and the continued need for progress in certain areas.

The event also addressed practical empowerment strategies, exploring barriers faced by marginalized groups in academia and offering concrete steps for both individuals and institutions to create more inclusive environments.

The event concluded with a Q&A and a moderated discussion for female participants, providing a platform for shared experiences and strategies for empowerment.

We are grateful to Dr. Handschuh for leading this important event!
