Summer School 2023
The first Summer School of the RTG took place from the 27th to the 29th of September at a beautiful location by a lake at Seehotel Töpferhaus.
At the center of the busy scientific programme were project presentations and poster sessions, during which the PhD students and postdocs shared the current status of their research and got feedback from the other members of the RTG. Day 1 also featured an inspiring lecture from Prof. Dean Mobbs, California Institute of Technology, on “Space, time and fear”. On day 2 Prof. Michael Anderson, University of Cambridge, gave a talk on “Improving mental health by training the suppression of unwanted thoughts”.
Another highlight of the programme was a special interest event organised completely by our PhD students, titled “Neuroimaging methods – the good, the bad and the ugly”. The event opened with an elaborate and fun play and was followed by stations at which various neuroimaging methods were presented and discussed. It was then concluded with spontaneous statements by some of the PIs.
The beautiful location offered an opportunity for a lot of planned as well as unplanned social activities: a campfire by the like after a busy day, a hike in the nature reserve followed by a picnic, as well as a spontaneous volleyball game while waiting for the BBQ dinner.
Completed by perfect weather, these were all in all an inspiring couple of days for all participants. We are already looking forward to the Summer School 2024!
