Summer School 2024
The second Summer School of the RTG 2753 took place from the 4th to the 6th of September at Schlossgut Groß Schwansee on the Baltic coast.
Once again our entire RTG group was able to spend a couple of productive and enriching days focused on scientific exchange.
The Summer School was attended by our PhD students and PIs, as well as two international guests,Dr. David Clewett, UCLA Brain Research Institute, and Dr. Israel Liberzon, Texas A&M School of Medicine, who gave state-of-the-art talks.
Our PhD students gave updates on the progress of their projects in a new format. This year each PhD student presented their project in a lightning talk first and was then able to cover the progress in detail in a poster session.
As with our first Summer School, a special interest event was organised independently by our PhD students. With this year’s topic being “Publish or perish – a critical view on the publication process”, the event encouraged reflection on the limitations of the existing publications process and ways it could be shaped in future. Fruitful discussions around posters were followed by a fun quiz, perfectly complementing the event.
The picturesque location, within walking distance from the Baltic coast, enabled the perfect social programme, including a campfire and kite-building, as well as spontaneous activities such as star-gazing.
The group returned to Hamburg with lots of insights for their respective RTG projects and special memories to carry into the new academic year.
