Qualification programme of the RTG: May-July 2023

Between May and July 2023 the Qualification programme of the RTG featured a couple of courses tailored specifically to the needs of our PhD students and postdocs.

From the 30th to the 31st of May Dr. Juliane Jacob and Jana Neumann from the Center for Sustainable Research Data Management at Universität Hamburg shared their expertise with our group in a two-day workhop “Collection, storage, editing and sustainable provision of research data”. The workshop provided an overview of crucial research data management topics such as data storage, documentation and archiving. In practical sessions the participants were able to draw on their own projects and data and reflect on how RDM can help their scientific work.

From the 20th to the 21st of June Valentina Krenz from the Cognitive Psychology Lab of the Universität Hamburg conducted an online course on “Representational Similarity Analyses of fMRI data”.  The course offered the participants a comprehensive theoretical base as well as hands-on experience, guiding them through the different stages of conducting RSAs and introducing tools that can be applied to both multivariate and univariate analyses of fMRI data.

Finally, on the 30th of June a workshop on “Data visualisation with R” took place, run by Dr. rer. nat. Linda Krause and Dr. Ann-Kathrin Ozga from the Institute of Medical Biometry and Epidemiology at UKE. In this hands-on workshop the participants got introduced to the software R and learnt how to create various types of plots, allowing them to use the new skills to visualise their own research data.
